Focus: Your Best Interest (Pt.1)
Text: Ps.47:4
"He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah."
God has your best interest at heart. He knows what is good for you. He knows what your needs are. He knows your desires or wants. As your maker and master God knows what is best for you. You can bank on God to decide what is best for you. Most of the times you lack the spiritual capacity to make the right choices for yourself, especially where you have several options in front of you.
Let God do the choosing for you! Let God choose your inheritance for you!
God's wisdom and knowledge put Him in a position to make the best choices for you, and His love for you ensures that He wants you to have the best things of life.
God will not choose or give you a snake for fish, and He will never choose or give you a stone for bread. The psalmist says, "The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage" (Ps.16:6).
God makes the best choices for you, and He makes you to exclaim at last, "I have a goodly heritage." Isaiah declares, "Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause thee to inherit the desolate heritages" (Isa.49:8). God will cause you to "inherit DESOLATE heritages."
God's choices often seem like blessings in disguise. The psalmist says, "For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name" (Ps.61:5).
The fear of God gives you the benefit of a unique heritage before God. Those who love the Lord are uniquely blessed.
Isaiah says, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD" (Isa.54:17). God has decided to let you have veto power over your life and destiny. No one has a right to ruin your life through his or her words. God has given you the authority to reject the curses and condemnations of men. By heritage, you cannot be destroyed by the tongue of another. Only you can kill you with your own mouth, not another's.
God has chosen your inheritance for you. Embrace and enjoy God's choice for you. Accept all that God has accepted for you. God loves you so much to let you have less than the best.
