Focus: Well Endowed By God!
Text: Jh.17:22
"And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them."
Every believer in Christ is so blessed and well endowed by God. The gifts of God abound in his life. He lacks nothing that God cannot supply.
Let us go through some Scriptures and see what God has bestowed upon the believer in Christ.
Our text says that Christ has given us His glory, the same glory as He had been given by His Father. The glory He received from His Father, He has given to His disciples. The gift of God's glory is ours in Christ.
Paul says, "Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace GIVEN, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ" (Eph.3:8). He says, "But unto every one of us is GIVEN grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ" (Eph.4:7). He says again, "I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is GIVEN you by Jesus Christ" (1Cor.1:4). God has bestowed or given grace to the believer in Christ. He possesses the gift of divine grace. Paul says, "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, PERCEIVED the grace that was given unto me…" (Gal.2:9).
The grace of God is perceivable. I pray for others to perceive the grace of God that is upon your life.
Luke writes, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven GIVEN among men, whereby we must be saved" (Act.4:12). The name of Jesus Christ is the only name provided on earth by God for the salvation of all men. Salvation is found only in Christ's name. God has given to every man in this world the name of Jesus Christ. Every believer has the name of Christ for a gift. There is infinite power in the name of Jesus Christ. John says, "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it" (Jh.14:13,14). God has given us the name of Jesus Christ.
The resources of heaven are made available to us in the name of Jesus Christ.
John writes, "But as many as received him, to them GAVE he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name" (Jh.1:12). God has given us authority to function as His children. We bear His name.
Paul declares, "He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also GIVEN unto us his holy Spirit" (1Thes.4:8). God has given us the Holy Spirit. We have the gift of the Holy Spirit. John says, "And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath GIVEN us" (1Jh.3:24). He says again, "Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit" (1Jh.4:13). We have the gift of the Spirit. In fact, He lives in us.
Paul declares, "For God hath not GIVEN us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2Tim.1:7). God has given us the spirit of power, of love, and of sound mind. We have been abundantly gifted. We have no gift of God in short supply.
John writes, "And this is the record, that God hath GIVEN to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son" (1Jh.5:11). God has given us eternal life. Eternal life is simply life as God has it. We have the life of God flowing in us. We possess in us the God-kind of life. We have been gifted with God's kind of life.
John writes, "And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath GIVEN us an understanding, that we may know him that is true…" (1Jh.5:20). God has given us an understanding - ability to know the true God and stick with Him, having nothing to do with false or fake gods.
He has given us the ability to decipher the truth, to distinguish between what is true and what is false. We know what reality is.
Paul says, "Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath GIVEN us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace" (2Thes.2:16). God has given us everlasting consolation and good hope. We are blessed with the gifts of comfort and good hope.
Grace is the communicator and conveyor of these expensive gifts - comfort and hope.
Peter says, "According as his divine power hath GIVEN unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue" (2Pet.1:3). God has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. In everything God has given us, nothing is missing and nothing is left out. We have everything. We are well endowed and abundantly enriched.
Peter declares, "Whereby are GIVEN unto us exceeding great and precious promises…" (2Pet.1:4). God has given us exceeding great and precious promises. These promises are in their thousands, and they touch every aspect of our lives. These promises are for today and also for tomorrow.
Paul says, "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath GIVEN to us the ministry of reconciliation" (2Cor.5:18). God has given the believer in Christ the ministry of reconciliation. The believer has the gift of ministry.
The believer has a mission to fulfill and a ministry to deliver.
You can see that greatly we are endowed, enabled and ennobled by God as believers in Christ. We are massively gifted and incredibly blessed. We are gifted with grace and glory. We lack nothing, and indeed, all things are ours in Christ. I pray that we never live to waste our heavenly resources and our eternal treasures!
