Focus: Void Of Power

Text: 2Tim.3:5

"Having a form of godliness, but DENYING the power thereof: from such turn away."

Form and power are parts of the same thing. They are like two sides of a coin. The form is a kind of container while the power is the content or substance. Paul says that we have the treasure in an earthen vessel. The form is meaningless without the power. Same goes for the container and the earthen vessel. They are nothing without the content and the treasure.

The church cannot make the desirable impact on society without the power of God. The church came to be by the power of God, and so, she cannot be impactful in her ministry if she is void of divine power.

The church today is functioning like when Samson lost the secret of his power, which is his hairs to Delilah. His power only returned when his hairs grew again. The church is void of God's power, but we are still acting like the power is still there. We are avoiding the void instead of doing what we should to fill the void. We are simply evading the fact that we are void of power.

We are making a show of religion without proving the reality of God and power of true religion in the things we say and do.

Our faith is designed to rest on the power of God, not on the wisdom of men. Powerless religion will save nobody. Serving God for formality sake is being fake. No one is ever attracted to a religion that is void of power. Paul says, "That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God" (1Cor.2:5).

Faith does not operate by human intelligence but by the wisdom and power of God.

Faith operates purely on God's terms and conditions, not on human ideology or methodology. Faith bows only to divine revelation and is propelled by the power of God. A powerless church is an empty shell. Only the Holy Spirit can fill the void in our lives as believers in Christ. Paul talks about completing that which is lacking in our faith.

God is ready to fill our void if we let Him, and to let Him, we must first acknowledge the void in us. We need constant filling of the Holy Spirit. Power comes with the Spirit of God. The world is looking for a powerful church, not just a flashy or fanciful one. Are you avoiding the void or doing something about it?
