Focus: Times Change!
Text: Ps.62:8
"Trust in him at all times."
The Scripture tells us that there is time for everything, but one thing that is not conditioned by time is trusting God. Trusting God is for all times. There is no time that trusting God is not required or needed. Trusting God is not seasonal; it is eternal. Trusting God is fundamental and essential to our existence in this world.
Times are different one from the other. We have trying times, perilous times, troubling times, wailing or sorrowful times, evil times, hard or tough times, odd times, ugly times, and also good times. But regardless of what the times say, trusting applies to all times. When we understand, when we don't understand, or when it is hard for us to understand whatever it is that God is doing, it is needful and right that we trust God. Habakkuk says, "Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation" (Hab.3:17-18).
God is worth trusting at all times. He is a good God.
The psalmist declares, "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth" (Ps.34:1). Yes, we trust in and bless God at all times. His praise shall never depart from our hearts and mouths, whether Satan likes it or not.
Again the psalmist declares, "Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times" (Ps.106:3). Yes, we trust in God, bless Him, and do righteousness at all times. In fact, there is no better time to trust in and bless God, and do right than in bad times. One basic idea of trusting God is leaning on Him, regardless of whatever happens.
We trust in God at all times. We bless God at all times. We do righteousness at all times. Another thing that we do at all times, especially for friends, is to love. Solomon tells us that "a friend loveth at all times…" (Prov.17:17).
*Trusting in God
*Blessing God
*Doing righteousness
*Loving others
We do all of these at all times. They are not virtues or acts that we practice seasonally. We do them all the time - any time and every time. We exercise ourselves in them forever, and God is delighted every time we do them. Whether in foul or fair weather times, let us keep trusting and blessing God. Satan is helpless and put to shame when we trust and bless God habitually and perpetually. Time may change, but our trust in God doesn't. As we move from one time to another we remain committed to, constant and consistent in trusting in God.
