Focus: The Precious Blood Of Christ!
Text: 1Pet.1:19
"But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot."
Four things work wonders in the life of the believer in Christ, namely, the blood of Christ, the word of God, the name of the Lord, and the Spirit of God.
Interestingly, the believer in Christ is saved by the blood, sanctified by the word of God, secured by the name of the Lord, and strengthened by the Spirit of God. Christ is everything to the believer.
Let us focus on the blood of Christ for today.
*The blood of Christ
Peter tells us that the blood of Jesus Christ is precious, and truly, everything about Christ is precious - priceless. The believer is infinitely blessed in Christ.
Paul tells about "the church of God, which he hath PURCHASED with his own blood" (Act.20:28). The believer is bought by Christ's blood. That is how precious the blood of Christ is. It takes care of freedom. Paul says that in Christ the believer has "redemption through his blood…" (Eph.1:7). His blood was the price for our redemption. In Colossians Paul repeats the same thing. He says, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Col.1:14). By means of the shed blood of Christ we were redeemed - set free from slavery to sin, Satan and death. In Revelation, we read, "For thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us TO God by thy blood" (Rev.5:9).
We are redeemed FROM Satan TO God, FROM sin TO righteousness, and FROM death TO life.
The believer in Christ is not only bought and redeemed, but also justified by the blood. Paul says, "Much more then, being now JUSTIFIED by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Rom.5:9). The blood justifies us. We are legally declared righteous by virtue of the blood of Christ. That is how precious the blood of Jesus Christ is.
John records in Revelation, "Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood" (Rev.1:5). The blood is the believer's moral and spiritual soap. It is also the believer's bathing water. We are washed clean by it. The writer of Hebrews tells us that our conscience has been purged by the blood of Jesus Christ (Heb.9:14). Just imagine that! Our conscience is cleansed or purged by Christ's blood. John says that "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1Jh.1:7). Our conscience is purged. Our sins are cleansed. We are eternally free. John tells us that the saints "have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Rev.7:14).
We have laundered our spiritual robes in Christ's blood. That is how precious the blood of Christ is.
Paul says, "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ" (Eph.2:13). The blood of Jesus Christ has brought us close to God. The gap has been bridged and the distance between us and God closed up. We are no longer far apart from each other. The blood of Christ has reunited us with God. Paul says, "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross" (Col.1:20).
We have peace with God by the blood. By the blood God has granted us pardon for our sins. We are forgiven by God and at peace with Him.
The Word says, "Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate" (Heb.13:12). The believer is saved and sanctified by the blood.
The Word says, "Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus" (Heb.10:19). We are authorized and emboldened by the blood of Christ to access the holiest place. We can now boldly approach the throne of God because of the blood of Christ.
John writes, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb" (Rev.12:11). The blood of Christ serves as the believer's weapon of war. He wins by means of the blood. The blood is our mighty ammunition. With the blood we never lose a battle; we always win.
I pray that you experience the power of the blood of Christ. The question is how can we experience the efficacy of the blood? Paul tells us that it is by faith in His blood (Rom.3:25). Faith in the blood of Jesus Christ is the key. The benefits of the blood are appropriated by faith. The blood of Christ works for those who believe in its efficacy. Appreciate the blood and appropriate its power to yourself. The blood works, and it is precious.
