Focus: The Offer Still Stands (Pt.2)

Text: Mt.11:28

"Come unto me."

Christ still holds out His hands of love, asking you to come to Him. He is the end of your search for meaning and purpose. He is ever willing to receive you into His fold. He gives form to formless people and things, and fills voids, wherever that void exists. He mends the broken and breaks the unbreakable. In His presence you'll find joy in full and pleasures unbounded. His presence in your life is your greatest asset. Nothing can take the place of His presence in this world, and it is in coming to Him that you can experience and enjoy His gift of life and rest. He alone satisfies the deepest yearning of your heart.

Another Scripture on 'come' is John 21:12. Christ says to His disciples in one of His post-resurrection appearances, "Come and dine." The master's invitation to you is: 'come and dine,' not, come and die. He is the giver of life, not its taker. We only die because of our sin. The Word says, "The soul that sinneth shall die," and again, "The wages of sin is death." God said to Adam, "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" (Gen.2:17). Jesus Christ says to His followers, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (Jh.10:10).

Christ's offer still stands: "come and dine." Our God prepares a table for us even in the midst of our enemies. He has a rich table. Nothing is lacking in His kitchen. He has everything in abundance. He says to us in Isaiah 25:6, "And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined." The cross of Christ has given us a rich table. He owns all the fish in the rivers and seas. He is our supplier and sustainer.

As the resurrected Lord, He invites us to a resurrection breakfast. He brings us into fellowship with Himself. He brings us into a place of intimacy with Himself. He feeds us with the meal of grace. His word is our food. He opens to us the abundance of His kitchen. Eating in Scripture implies fellowship and closeness. Christ invites us to a closer relationship with Him.

We will have a closer view of the glory of the Lord as we comply with His invitation to come to Him, and we are constantly transformed by the glory we see. We often become what we behold.

Accept Christ's offer now, because you'll eternally enjoy it.
