Focus: The Evening of Life

Text: Zech.14:7

"But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light."

God is sovereign; He rules and overrules. He sovereignly commands and controls history. He is the God of providence and the worker of miracles. Nature serves His purposes and yields to His designs.

Prophet Zachariah sees a day in the future when light suddenly overtakes the evening. One evening, all of a sudden, brightens up in a miraculous way. According to the prophet, "At evening time it shall be light."

I stand to prophesy to you that your evening time shall miraculously be filled with so much light. In your night you will experience the light of day. The Word says, "But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Prov.4:18). For the believer in Christ, his life on earth gets better and shines brighter by the day. From time to eternity his life moves from one level of faith to another. He moves from grace to grace, from strength to strength, from mortality to immortality, and from glory to glory. He moves from not so good a place to the best of places. The 'evening time' of a Christian will be filled with hope, peace and joy.

The psalmist says, "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace" (Ps.37:37). Peace will be your portion in the evening time of your life. The psalmist says again that "they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing" (Ps.92:14). The evening of old age for you shall be blessed, blissful and full of miracles. We read of David that "he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead" (1Chron.29:28). Plan your life well to have David's kind of story or experience. He lived to a good old age, a life filled with God's blessings and eternal hope.

I pray for your evening to be full of light - light of life, light of knowledge, wisdom and truth, light of divine goodness, light of divine energy, and the light of hope. In your evening you shall have light.
