Text: 2Kgs.13:21

"And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet."

How real and deep is your spirituality? Is your Christian faith only skin deep? Is it only peripheral? Is your faith lasting, or simply passing? After Elisha was dead and gone, the anointing of God in his bones could still raise a dead man. Do you have divine oil in your bones? Is your relationship with God beyond mere rhetorics? Can the next generation have something supernatural to tap into on account of faith and spiritual legacy?

Elisha's anointing was not only on his mantle or in his staff, but it was also in his bones. It was so deeply embedded in his inner being that no one could have taken it away from him. It was not something he could lose. His whole being was saturated with it. There was resurrection power in his bones. Just come into contact with Elisha, dead or alive, and you would feel the touch of God.

Spirituality is meant to be holistic - something that penetrates, permeates and pervades the whole personality. It is meant to touch your bones.

Elisha's bones raised the dead even after years of being dead. The miraculous power of God stuck with him.

For a lot of us, our religion is only skin deep. Others are neither attracted to nor touched by it. Who is being touched and changed by your Christian life? Who has your faith saved or healed since Christ came into your life? How deep is your godliness? What is the force of your faith? What impact are you making in the lives of others? Are you transmitting life to the dead or waking up sleepy saints by your consecration? Are you totally sold out to God or you are just maintaining the status quo? Do you have something of God in you that revives the dead?

The anointing in your bones is meant to enliven or revive others. Elisha carried life in his bones - life that makes the dead come back to life. In Ps.109:18, we read about "oil unto his bones." I pray for you have God's oil in your bones. Let the Spirit of God possess you totally! Drink in the Spirit and let out the glory! Let resurrection happen where your grave is! As you die daily to self and to the things of this world, may the life of Christ manifest through you to others! May those who come into touch with you feel the divine atmosphere!

Elisha was long dead and gone, but his bones could still show proof of life and power. The good news is: you are alive and well on planet earth; you are not dead yet. So let God use you while you are still alive! Let God pass through you to touch others! Let God's anointing become a living reality in your life! I join Samuel Rutherford to say, "We ought to struggle earnestly to increase our beliefs. Every addition to them is an extension of life, both in breath and depth."
