Focus: The Blessing Of The Gospel
Text: Rom.15:29
"And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in THE FULNESS OF THE BLESSING OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST."
Paul is the bearer of the gospel blessings. He says in essence to the believers in Rome, 'I am certain that when I come to you, I will come carrying and conveying to you the whole blessing contained in the gospel of Christ.' All of God's blessings are infused into the gospel. Through the preaching of the gospel Paul communicates and imparts the blessings of Christ.
God's blessing is constant necessity in our lives. Nothing we do works until God blesses us. The blessing of God is what enables us to convert energy or potential into material reality. His blessing makes our effort to have effect and it makes our labor productive. Solomon declares, "The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it" (Prov.10:22). God's blessings are sorrow-less. They make us wealthy.
Caleb's daughter said to him, "Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs" (Judg.1:15). We receive what we ask of the Lord. He supplies us with blessing in abundance. God will not only give us land to possess, but also give us springs which will cause our land to flourish. As we let God nourish us, we shall flourish. Blessing Naphtali, Moses said, "O Naphtali, satisfied with favour, and full with the blessing of the LORD…" (Dt.33:23).
I pray God to satisfy you with favor and fill you to the brim with his blessings!
Moses said to the priestly family, "Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day" (Ex.32:29). God's blessing flows through consecration and obedience. As God's children, we belong to the priestly family of God. We are a royal priesthood.
We are called to offer spiritual sacrifices to the Lord. So we need His blessings upon our lives and upon our holy work.
I end with this acronym on BLESSING:
*Boundless goodness of God
*Limitless liberality of God
*Enabling grace of God
*Sufficiency of divine supply
*Sweetness of God's presence
…His blessing smells so sweet on us.
*Increasing goodness of God
*Never-ending flow of God's bounties
*Great flow of God's loving-kindness
Embrace and enjoy God's blessings! The blessings are imparted to us through the proclamation and demonstration of the power of the gospel.
