Focus: Take Charge! (Pt.2)

Text: Eph.3:20b

"According to the power that worketh in us."

It is vital that you know that God's power is working in you, and that you are a partaker of the divine nature. You are truly and thoroughly equipped to take charge. You have in you the ability and authority required to decide and determine your life in this world.

It is important that you know who you are and what you are capable of - your identity and destiny. Paul says, "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Gal.3:29). By your connection to Christ, you are now Abraham's seed, and as an offspring of Abraham, you are in reality Abraham's heir. Did you hear that? You are Abraham's child and heir according to God's promise. Faith in Christ has given you a position in Abraham's family. Paul says, "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…" (Rom.8:17). 

You are even more than being Abraham's heir; you are God's heir and a joint-heir with Christ. You are more than a member of Abraham's family; you are also a member of God's family where Christ also belongs. As a matter of fact, Christ is your brother. 

Grace has elected and elevated you. You have a new status. You are now not just God's creature, but God's child - born of the Spirit.

Paul says, "That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life" (Tit.3:7). Through grace God has made you His heir, and you share with every one else in God's family the hope of eternal life. Now and forever you are God's heir. The author of Hebrews says, "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Heb.1:14). Child of God, you are an heir of salvation and eternal life! God has sent His angels to minister to you in advance of what the future holds for you - consummate or ultimate salvation. James lends His own voice, "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?" (Jam.2:5). God has located you from the world's ghetto and gutter, and relocated you to His glorious kingdom. You are no longer dressed in rags; you are now robed in royalty. You have not only been transferred from the junkyard to the jewel-house of God, but also, you have been transformed from a riffraff into a royalty.

Child of God, take charge! Constantly remind yourself of who you are in Christ. As a creature in the creator's image, God says to you, "Have dominion over…" As a Spirit-regenerated person, God says to you, 'Overcome the world by your faith in Christ, subjugate the devil by the authority of Christ, and reign in this life through grace.' Now trash that defeatist mentality inside you. Break off that chain of limitation and stand in your place of liberty. Take charge of your world! Go out there and make history - achieve, succeed, excel. Just be your own best by the grace already made available to you by God. Take charge, heir of God!
