Text: Jb.35:10

"God, my maker, who giveth songs in the night."

Take it from me as God's mouthpiece, that God has a song for you even in your night time. The night time of tears and trials. The night time of aloneness and loneliness. The night time of failure and fear. The night time of hopelessness, helplessness and powerlessness. The night time of panic and perplexity. The night time of sighs and sorrow.

Peter says, "We have toiled ALL THE NIGHT and caught nothing." That's a night of toil without oil. That's a night of effort without effect and of struggle without success. We all have such nights. Tears roll down our cheeks and our hearts sink into our stomachs. Nights when we are overcome with sorrow and overwhelmed with the incomprehensible. Nights when we find ourselves in the middle of nowhere and our hearts are torn apart and we lack a sense of vision and direction.

Yet Job assures us that God gives us songs at night. Indeed, our God gives songs even at our darkest nights when we see no rays of light or sunshine.

God knows how to turn our sighs into songs and our night into day.

The psalmist declares, "Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life" (Ps.42:8). The song of the Lord Jesus Christ will be with you at night. It was at midnight that Paul and Silas sang praises to God and their chains broke off, the foundation of the jailhouse shook and prisoners saw the chains broken off from their hands. In the midst of their trouble, God put songs in their mouth to sing, and there was a turnaround of events in that moment. The jailer and his household surrendered their hearts to Jesus Christ. The psalmist says, "I call to remembrance MY SONG IN THE NIGHT: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search" (Ps.77:6). Get ready for your midnight song! God gives songs in the night. That time when it seems abnormal to sing, God will make you sing. He causes songs to well up in your heart.

Not only does God give a song at night, He also steps into action in your life.

The psalmist says, "Thou hast visited me in the night" (Ps.17:3). You experience divine visitation in the night. God invades your space to end evil and stir your heart to sing a new song. The psalmist says again, "To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night" (Ps.92:2). God takes care of your day and night.

In the day He unveils His lovingkindness, and in the night He makes us see His faithfulness in action. No time of your life is left for Satan to handle. The psalmist says, "The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun" (Ps.74:16). Your God owns the day as well as the night. He says again, "In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire" (Ps.78:14). Divine provision extends to both day and night - cloud for the day and light of fire for the night.

There's no time of your life when God is not God or when God is not in charge.

We are told that "He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night" (Ps.105:39). He gives light in the night. He gives songs in the night. We experience His visitation and faithfulness at night.

God can be trusted; He can be relied upon at all times. Songs will burst out of your mouth soon - songs in the night. God gives songs at night!
