Focus: Silly Sameness

Text: 2Cor.6:17

"Be ye separate."

Sameness with the world is a big tragedy. Something is wrong everywhere the world and the church look alike. When we can no longer distinguish the difference between the church and the world, then the glory has departed from us and the power of our witness is gone. We cannot win the world looking like it.

God wants us to live differently from the rest of the humanity. We are a light set on a hill. We are the light of the world. Paul appeals to us not to be conformed to the world, for conformity to the world is a loss of authentic witness.

Sameness with the world is silliness. We cannot sound convincing to the world while compromising and adulterating our faith in Christ and weakening the power of our witness. Amid a corrupt, perverse and darkened society God wants us to shine as lights. God says, "Come out from among them, and be you separate." Let us stop walking, talking and working like the world! Let's stand out! Let's distinguish ourselves! Let's avoid the sin of worldliness and silly sameness! 

The world and us are not at all lookalikes. There's a radical difference between they and us, and part of our witness in the world is being different from the world.

Whatever you do, make soul-winning a priority! Sameness with the world weakens our witness to the world. Let's stand up for Christ and stand out from the world!
