Focus: Our Streams And Rivers! (Pt.2)
Text: Isa.33:21
"The glorious Lord will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams."
Our glorious God is to us a place of broad rivers and streams. He is truly our everything. He is the Spring of all supernatural blessings - the river of measureless grace and love.
Let us consider more of these rivers and streams as they flow from the Lord our God.
*The River of God's house
Prophet Joel tells us that "a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim" (Joel 3:18). When we let our God, who is the place of broad rivers and streams, take His rightful place in the midst of His church, then shall the river of the divine presence and power flow through us.
*The River of Joy
The psalmist declares, "There is a river, the streams whereof shall make GLAD the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High" (Ps.46:4). This river gladdens our hearts and sweetens our spirits. It is the river of unalloyed joy. The psalmist says, "They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures" (Ps.36:8). O the river of thy pleasures! God is our river, and He abundantly satisfies and gives us immense pleasure.
*The River of Righteousness
Amos declares, "But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream" (Ams.5:24). The righteousness of God flows like a mighty stream. The righteousness of God flows like a river in our lives, and as it flows we are washed and cleansed.
*The River of peace
Isaiah says, "For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend PEACE to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck…" (Isa.66:12). The peace of God flows like a river. The river of peace cools the heart and soothes the inner recesses of one's being.
Our God is our river. Even in dry places His river flows. He makes us enjoy an oasis in the desert. He makes water come out of the rock. The psalmist says, "He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers" (Ps.78:16). He says again, "He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river" (Ps.105:41). This river of God is about to flow into the dry places of your life.
I pray God to be to you the place of broad rivers and streams, and I pray you experience His rivers of joy and peace, plenty and pleasure, and rivers of His presence and indwelling Spirit. All the things we need are found in the person of Jesus Christ; all the places we desire to be in are located in the person of Christ. Even the heavenly places are discovered in Jesus Christ. He is our place of broad streams and rivers.
