Focus: Life's Main Thing
Text: Act.9:5,6
"And he said, WHO art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am JESUS..." "...Lord, WHAT wilt thou have me to do..."
This text is about the Damascus experience of Saul of Tarsus. The light of heaven shines into his life and space - an experience he couldn't forget for as long as he lives. It was a life-altering encounter. The whole course of his life was radically redirected, and out of that experience comes two questions from Saul of Tarsus.
First, he inquires, Who are you, Lord? That question deals with IDENTITY. The Lord replies, I am JESUS! An answer that transformed his theology and revolutionized his life.
Finally, he asks, What do you want me to do? This final question deals with DESTINY. What's the task of my life? What's my job description? Right there and then Saul was called and commissioned, employed and empowered, appointed and anointed.
From that encounter Saul renamed Paul becomes AWARE of who Jesus is, and ASSIGNED the job of a Gospel preacher. And that is life's main thing - knowing Jesus and doing what he wants for life.
Let your prayer always be: Lord, reveal yourself to me and in me, just as Paul says, "To reveal his Son IN me, that I might preach him among the heathen..." - Gal.1:16. Lord, tell me what to do for your glory!
