Focus: Jesus Plus Nothing!

Text: Jh.14:6
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Jesus Christ authoritatively presents Himself to humanity as "the way, the truth, and the life." That is audacious and absolute introduction of himself. Vance Havner said, "Jesus is all we have; he is all we need and all we want. We are shipwrecked on God and stranded on omnipotence," and he is correct.
Jesus Christ says, "I am the way." He is the way, not a way. He says, "No one comes to the Father, but by me." That means that there are not many ways to God; He is the only way. No one goes to God through a religious system or any other systems. Man can only go to God through a person, and that person is Jesus Christ. God is a person, and He relates to persons, not to things.
Jesus Christ says, "I am the truth." He is not a truth, but rather the truth. He is the embodiment of truth or the truth personified. For Jesus Christ, truth is more than a proposition or supposition; truth is the person of Jesus Christ.
Truth is the absolute and ultimate reality of God manifested and demonstrated in the person of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ says, "I am the life." Jesus Christ is the life, not a life, and He gives abundant life to those who believe in Him. He says, "As Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him." So He is the life, and the giver of life to men. Through His life, men see light. We see the best of life by observing His life. His life is truly life as God intended it for all men. John says, "In him was life, and the life was the light of men."
Jesus Christ is truly all we need, all we want, and all we have.
He is the way, and we go nowhere without Him. Most importantly, He is the only way to God. He is the truth, and without Him, nothing we know is worth knowing. All knowledge is meaningless without Christ. It is the knowledge of the truth that sets men free, and I mean truth as it is enfleshed or embodied in Jesus Christ. He is the life, and without Him, man is only but a living corpse.
Carl F. H. Henry said, "Jesus Christ turns life right-side-up, and heaven outside-in." Yes, Christ brings heaven into our hearts. No one goes to heaven without having heaven in his or her soul.
Christ is the life of those who believe in Him. He is the way, and believers are the people of the Way. He takes us safely to our heavenly destination. He is the truth; knowing Him is knowing all the truth that is worth knowing. Truly, it is Jesus plus nothing else - no subtraction, no substitution, and no addition!
