Focus: He Is True!

Text: Rev.3:7

"These things saith he that is holy, he that is true…"

There's absolutely nothing fake or false about Jesus Christ our Lord. There's nothing out of place about Him. There's nothing about Him that is inconsistent with Godness, goodness, loveliness, truthfulness and human realness. Christ is true in totality - in and out, and up and down.

*Our true Christ

Be they sincere or not, the leaders of thought in Israel said to Christ, "Master, we know that thou art true…" (Mk.12:14). In Rev.19:11 John declares, "And he that sat upon him was called Faithful and TRUE…" The true Christ sits upon the white horse. The slain saints cried out, "How long, O Lord, holy and TRUE…" (Rev.6:10). They acknowledged Christ to be true. Christ is wholly genuine.

*Our God is true

John writes, "And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is TRUE, and we are in him that is TRUE, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the TRUE God, and eternal life" (1Jh.5:20). John presents God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ as true. No one can ever trace falsehood or insincerity to God or Christ. God is perfect. Jesus Christ is perfect. The Holy Spirit is perfect. The triune God is absolutely perfect and true.

Jeremiah declares, "But the LORD is the TRUE God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king…" (Jer.10:10). Jesus is true.

Our God is the true God; all others are fake - totally unreal. Other gods are only the figment of man's imagination. They are man-made gods. The true God is not the creation of human imagination or intellect. Every man-made god is fake; they do not exist in reality. Jesus Christ testifies of his Father, and says, "He that sent me is TRUE… And this life eternal, that they might know thee the ONLY TRUE God…" (Jh.8:26; 17:3). Paul says, "But as God is TRUE…" (2Cor.1:18). Paul talked about how the believers in Thessaloniki "turned to God from idols to serve the living and TRUE God" (1Thes.1:9). Paul remarkably exclaims, "Let God be TRUE, but every man a liar…" (Rom.3:4).

*He's the True Witness

Now as God's witness on earth, Christ says of Himself, "These things saith the Amen, the faithful and TRUE WITNESS…" (Rev.3:14). His witness was original and authentic; He could be trusted.

*He's the true light

As the light, John says that Jesus Christ was the true light that lighten all men (1Jh.1:9).

*He's the true Vine

In reference to Christ, John says that "the true light now shineth" (1Jh.2:8). As the vine, Jesus says of Himself, "I am the TRUE vine…" (Jh.15:1).

*His Word is true

When it comes to the word of God, the psalmist declares, "Thy word is TRUE from the beginning…"(Ps.119:160). God's word is original and authentic. John declares, "These are the TRUE SAYINGS of God" (Rev.19:9). John was instructed to "write: for these WORDS ARE TRUE and faithful" (Rev.21:5). Again, "These SAYINGS are faithful and TRUE…" (Rev.22:6). David says, "And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy WORDS BE TRUE, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant" (2Sam.7:28).

*His Grace is true

In the matter of divine grace Peter declares, "This is the TRUE GRACE of God wherein ye stand" (1Pet.5:12).

*His Ways are true

Referring to God's ways, John writes, "Lord God Almighty; just and TRUE are thy WAYS, thou King of saints…" (Rev.15:3). 

*His judgments are true

Concerning God's decisions and conclusions, the saints sing a song that says, "Even so, Lord God Almighty, TRUE and righteous are thy judgments" (Rev.16:7). Again he says, "For TRUE and righteous are his judgments" (Rev.19:2). So we can see that God is true in toto. His ways, His words, His grace, His decisions and actions are true. God's integrity is impeccable, unquestionable and unassailable. We have not fallen into wrong hands. In fact we are safe in His hands. We serve the God of invisible realities and eternal verities.

*Stay with the true God

It is said of Israel, "Now for a long season Israel hath been without the TRUE GOD, and without a teaching priest, and without law" (2Chron.15:3). I pray that none of us will end up on the laps of a false god! False gods make false claims and trade on falsehood. Let's stick with the true God! Let's not wander away from Him! Refuse to join the bandwagon of unreal gods! Counterfeit gods make life a living hell for their subjects. They sell lies and keep their subjects in bondage with lies.

Our God is true. He never cheats or deceives. He is trustworthy and loyal to all who trust in Him. He is neither the author of evil nor tempt us with evil. He is sinless stainless. His love is true. His words are truth. His promises are true. His dealings with us are true. Rest on His word. Count on His faithfulness. Believe in Him and confidently embrace His promises! Serve Him with strong conviction and super confidence! Our God is true!
