Focus: God Is Working

Text: Ps.92:4

"For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands."

God worked in the past. God is working in the present, and He will keep working throughout eternity. One amazing thing is that the goal of God's work is for your ultimate good. You are the beneficiary of all divine activity. The ultimate goal of God's works is man's great good and God's eternal glory. 

The psalmist declares, "For thou, LORD, hast MADE me GLAD through thy WORK: I will TRIUMPH in the WORKS of THY hands." God makes you glad through His workings, and He makes your victory come by what He does. Your joys and victories are the miraculous outcomes of God's doing.

God is doing something now that will soon produce your joy and victory. The psalmist says, "The LORD hath done great things for US; whereof WE are glad" (Ps.126:3). For you to have joy and experience victory, what God does is primary, and what you do is secondary. God is the brain behind all that you enjoy. God gives you all that pertains to life and godliness, and He gives you all things richly to enjoy.

Mary, the mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, said, "For he that is mighty hath done to ME great things; and holy is his name" (Lk.1:49). She says, "And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour" (Lk.1:47). While the psalmist talks about God having done stuff for "us," Mary talks about God having done something for her - "me." 

Luke says about Elizabeth, "And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her" (Lk.1:58). Joy is always the outcropping of divine work. God works creatively, redemptively, curatively, and providentially, and man is the beneficiary of all that. Matthew writes that "the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up" (Mt.4:16). 

I believe that you will soon testify to God's doing in your life and rejoice in what He has done for you.
