Focus: God Eavesdrops

Text: Mk.5:36

"As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe."

Jairus was a chief minister of a synagogue in Israel. His little daughter was sick and dying, and he came to Christ for help. While they were on the way to Jairus' house, some people came to Jairus with the news that his daughter had died, and that there was no point trying to get Jesus to come. The Lord Jesus Christ overheard their conversation, and quickly said to him, "Be not afraid, only believe." Jairus must have been terribly terrified and totally devastated by this sad news of his daughter's death.

Jairus died inside of him the moment they gave him that negative report. They said in essence, 'It's all over now. The situation has gone out of hand. It's beyond remedy. It's beyond what prayer can handle. There's nothing Jesus Christ can do about it now. So leave Him alone. Your dear daughter has reached the point of no return. Go home and bury your child. She's dead.' Jesus eavesdropped on them. He overheard them. Hence the need for the Lord to quickly reassure him that it wasn't over yet for his daughter.

God overhears the sad things people say to you. He overhears the sad news people bring to your attention. He is always eavesdropping on conversations concerning you. He knows even what people think in their hearts about you. He frowns at people who use the facts in your life to taunt you, frighten you, or try to stop you from taking faith steps, making spiritual efforts, or seeking supernatural solutions. They make you see no need to continue in prayer or believing God.

God is constantly eavesdropping on man's faithless and fear-catching conversations. 

Facts, as they say, may be stubborn, but one thing is sure, that with God facts are not final. Only what God says is final. As far as God is concerned, facts are subject to change.

Faith in Christ can reverse the wrong course or direction of your life.

Are you in a similar situation right now? While you are trying to solve one problem, another one is surfacing. Do you see yourself moving from mild tension to advanced trauma? Is your situation complicated? Hear me; Christ says to you right now, 'Be not afraid; only believe.' Just believe! Just lean on Christ. Trust God to get you out of that mess. Trust God to put a smile on that face of yours. Trust God to change that sad story of yours. Let your heart rest on the word of the Lord, not on the reports of men, be it doctor's report or otherwise.

Jesus Christ finally got to Jairus' house and restored his daughter to life. He transformed a weeping crowd into a rejoicing one. Christ demonstrated His power, Jairus' faith prevailed at last, and God was glorified. 

God is still eavesdropping on the conversations of men and overhearing things said to you and about you.
