Focus: Five Stones of Scripture (Pt.4)

Text: 1Sam.17:40

"And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine."

We have considered the Name of God, the Word of God, and the Anointing of the Spirit as smooth stones in the hands of God's people for assured victory in all spheres of life and endeavor. Now let us consider the smooth stone of the Blood of Christ.

The blood of Jesus Christ is a mighty weapon in the believer's hands. The blood of Christ is powerful. It saves and secures. Anywhere it drops it is a bomb, and you know what that means. Satan and his hordes of demons cannot stand the blood of Jesus Christ.

John tells us about Christ, "And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God" (Rev.19:13). The garment of Christ was dyed with His own blood. He is robed in His own blood, looking dangerous and intimidating. His blood broke chains and delivered the enslaved and oppressed. His blood broke the backs of Satan and his cohorts. By shedding His own blood He has destroyed the power of death. 

The cross signifies Satan's utter defeat and the deliverance of humanity from the shackles of sin.

God asked Israel to kill a lamb and sprinkle the blood on their door posts and lintels for their security against the angel of death. Of course, the lamb's blood signifies the blood of Christ, who is the lamb of God. God says, "And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt" (Ex.12:13). 

The blood secures us from the powers of darkness. Paul says, "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood" (Act.20:28). The blood of God's Son purchased us and by it we are protected. John writes, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death" (Rev.12:11). 

We win an overwhelming victory through the blood of Jesus Christ. It is our smooth stone that guarantees victory. Use the blood of Christ! Come under the covering of the blood of Jesus Christ! With the blood of Jesus Christ as our smooth stone we can conquer all our foes.
