Focus: Don't Keep Them Waiting Forever!

Text: Rom.8:19

"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God."

Jesus Christ the Son of God became the Son of man so that the sons of men could become the sons of God. John boldly and joyfully exclaims, "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…," and all of creation is waiting for our full and final manifestation as sons of God.

I used the phrase, "full and final" deliberately, because the word 'waiteth' is a tripartite word in the Greek, and it is the word, apekdechomai. It means to fully expect or to wait intensely, eagerly, earnestly, or anxiously for something. At the center of this word is a sense of patience. It is a word used in the New Testament with regards to the believer's future. That is biblical eschatology.

The implication of this word is that the people of this world long to see God in us as sons of God. It implies that there is a sense in which we are already manifesting now as sons of God and a sense in which we are going to fully and finally manifest ourselves as sons of God. We manifest as sons of God both in time and in eternity - in the present time and in the last day.

God is looking for consecrated men and women through whom He would manifest Himself to all of creation. The world is itching to see God through our lives. They want to see and touch God through the sons of God.

God said to Moses, "And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God" (Ex.4:16). Moses functioned as God's representation to Aaron. He stood in the place of God before his brother while his brother would act as his prophet or mouthpiece before Pharaoh. Then in another instance God said to Moses, "See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet" (Ex.7:1). Here again, God makes Moses a god to Pharaoh. So both to Aaron and Pharaoh Moses occupied God's office for Him. The implication of this is that God uses His ministers, represented by Moses, to manifest Himself to the church, as represented by Aaron; and also, God uses the Church, as represented by Moses, to manifest Himself to the world, as represented by Pharaoh.

God wants to reveal Himself to the church, and through the church to the world. So the world can't wait to see you manifesting your God to them in the here and now. They are anxious to hear and see you. God wants you to know Him personally and to make Him known to the world around you. Don't fail your God! Don't disappoint the waiting world! Understand that no one can manifest you for you. Don't let the world look for you and not find you! Show the world the God in you. Let the glory of Christ shine forth from you! In your humanity manifest divinity.
