Focus: Cups of Scripture

As I read the Scripture I come across some interesting cups. They're worth considering. They contain and convey a spiritual message to us.

1. The cup of judgment or wrath - Ps.75:8.

As sinners, we are all deserving of God's wrath and judgment. Christ is our only escape from this cup.

2. The cup of salvation - Ps.116:13.

For the finished work of Christ on the cross, the repentant sinner who calls on the name of the Lord is saved.

3. The cup of suffering - Mt.20:22; Jh.18:11.

It's a cup for all followers of Christ. We suffer with Christ.

4. The believer's cup of blessing - Ps.23:5. Our lives brim with blessings.

5. The believer's cup of consolation - Jer.16:7.

6. The cup of human kindness - Mt.10:42.

This is the cup of the "whoever." There's a cup in your hand; do good with it. Refresh a life with it, and be assured that giving is rewarding.

7. The believer's cup of communion - 1Cor.10:16; 11:25,26.

Several cups on God's table for you. You're truly blessed. Amen.
