Focus: All Fair!
Text: Song of Sol.4:7
"Thou art ALL FAIR, my love; there is NO SPOT in thee."
The lover, in the Song of Solomon, says to his love, "You are All Fair; there is No Spot in you." Spiritually speaking, the Lord Jesus Christ is saying the same thing to His beloved - all believers in Christ. Look at yourself and see the Lord saying to you that you are "all fair." 'Fair' means 'beautiful,' 'elegant,' 'graceful,' 'charming,' or 'goodly.' Christ is not just saying that you are morally and spiritually beautiful, but that you are completely so. Simply put, He is saying that you are beautiful all round - totally attractive.
Christ is also saying that "there is no spot in you." You are morally spotless. That is how Christ sees you. Paul says, "That he might present it to himself a glorious church NOT HAVING SPOT, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish" (Eph.5:27). At the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, He will present every believer to Himself as morally spotless and wholly fair.
Why does Christ perceive us this way? Does it mean that we are faultless and sinless? Is there really no spot in us? Are we truly all fair or extremely beautiful? Well, the answer is clear from the Scriptures. The truth is that Christ sees us in Himself, not outside. He sees us as Him; He doesn't see us outside of Himself.
The church and indeed every believer is in union with Jesus Christ. We are eternally united. He is our head, and we are His body.
Separating or severing the head from the body means death. Paul says, "For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones" (Eph.5:30). The church is the body of Christ, and all of us are His members.
As individuals, Paul says, "But of him are ye IN Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption" (1Cor.1:30). Christ is our Wisdom, our Righteousness, our Sanctification, and our Redemption. Christ has bestowed on, or imparted to us His righteousness as a gift, and it is His own righteousness that He sees in us. And that is why He says to us, "You are all fair; there is no spot in you."
Paul says, "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us ACCEPTED in the beloved" (Eph.1:6). The words 'grace' and 'accepted' are the same in the Greek. We have been 'graced,' 'favored,' and 'well-honored' in Christ the beloved. Grace has made us beautiful in the sight of God. The elegance of grace is upon us all.
Paul also says, "And ye are COMPLETE in him, which is the head of all principality and power" (Col.2:10). We are not only graced in Christ, but we are also complete in Him. Nothing is missing and nothing is broken. We are whole in Christ - a total entity. We are total personalities in Christ, and there is nothing to add or remove.
The last point to make is that God honors the name of Jesus Christ, not our own names. Christ says, "And whatsoever ye shall ask IN MY NAME, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing IN MY NAME, I will do it" (Jh.14:13,14). Again, He says, "Whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father IN MY NAME, he may give it you… Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father IN MY NAME, he will give it you… Hitherto have ye asked nothing IN MY NAME: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full" (Jh.15:16; 16:23,24). All transactions and intercessions are done in the name of Jesus Christ.
We obtain divine favors and answers to our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ. The limitless blessings from the storehouse of grace are released to us only in the name of Jesus Christ. Christ's name covers us; we are under the covering of Christ. We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places IN Christ Jesus.
Child of God, you are all fair, and there is no spot in you! Christ says so, and so it is. His words are final, and His vision or perception of us is correct and perfect. Accept nothing less than that. Christ's words are true and final. In Christ you are all fair!
